History & Features of Old Hickory Lake
Named after President Andrew Jackson, also known as "Old Hickory," the lake is surrounded by Hendersonville to the north and Old Hickory (part of Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County) to the south. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began construction of the Old Hickory Lock and Dam in 1952, completing the project in June 1954.
